Undoubtedly Cities are the engines of country’s growth.

The rapidly increasing urbanization and migration of people to urban areas like never before has increased the load on the existing infrastructure like Healthcare, Governance, Energy Utilities and water and other facilities too, that will sooner or later collapse.

With an objective of improving the quality of urban living with the use of technology, Government has launched an initiative “SMART CITIES.” The Smart City solutions aimed at reducing the overall costs and improving the productivity with the help of technology.

Technology based smart solutions are not just the innovative approach by government but the need of the hour for sustainable environment too. Smart city solutions help us with –

  • Building a robust transport infrastructure that has smart parking & vehicle tracking system.
  • Making our buildings and infrastructure consume fewer resources and be more efficient. One of such technology is smart city lighting solutions.
  • Healthcare has suffered the most in our nation for decades and with our conventional approach it is almost impossible to make it good enough. Through Smart healthcare solutions as Remote diagnosis and treatment and many others, desired results can be achieved.
  • Adopting smart distribution and monitoring systems ensure that nobody faces the scarcity of water.
  • E-governance not only saves time for residents and local administration but also very effective & efficient.

The strict implementation of smart city guidelines will primarily aid the end-users/buyers.

Areas with better infra always fetch better real estate value given the supply-demand factors. As far as investments are considered, Smart city projects are broadly classified in Brownfield and Greenfield projects.

Converting an existing city into smart city (Brownfield) is likely to be more affordable than the Greenfield where a new city is developed from the scratch. Greenfield projects can be better planned and can make use of more revolutionary ideas but can run into land acquisition issues given the current scenario of land acquisition.

Also, each city will come up with its own Housing Development Corporation and other authorities that will drive the administration of Smart City.

More on this later, Happy Buying!
